Monongahela National Forest
The Monongahela National Forest is a national forest located in the Allegheny Mountains of eastern West Virginia, US. It protects over 921,000 acres of federally managed land within a 1,700,000 acres proclamation boundary that includes much of the Potomac Highlands Region and portions of 10 counties.

Allegheny Trail
West Virginia's longest hiking trail, running roughly 330 miles from the Mason-Dixon Line to the Appalachian Trail on Peters Mountain. Its heart traverses the remote ridgelines of the Monongahela National Forest.
Blackwater Canyon Trail
A rail-grade trail descending Blackwater Canyon from Thomas to Hendricks, dropping roughly 1,300 ft along the Blackwater River past cascades and old logging and mining relics. Rocky, rugged footing in places.
Flatrock Run Trail
The main access route into Roaring Plains West Wilderness, following Flat Rock Run past small waterfalls on an old railroad grade before climbing steeply into red spruce and hemlock highlands near Dolly Sods.
West Fork Rail Trail
A remote 22-mile rail-trail between Glady and Durbin following the West Fork of the Greenbrier River through the Monongahela National Forest, with historic trestles, quiet river views and backcountry campsites.
Allegheny Highlands Trail
A 26-mile rail-trail on the former West Virginia Central & Pittsburg Railway from Elkins to Parsons, climbing gently into the Monongahela National Forest with small-town, farmland and riverside scenery.
