Trails near Baltimore, MD
Patapsco Valley is essentially Baltimore’s backyard — Cascade Falls, Avalon, and the Daniels area are all under 20 minutes from downtown. Gunpowder Falls is the same drive north. Catoctin and Sugarloaf are an hour. The AT-MD section is 90 minutes. You don’t have a trail problem; you have a parking problem on weekends.

Drive times are estimates
Mileage is straight-line distance from the center of Baltimore. Real drive times depend on traffic, mountain roads, and your starting point inside the metro. For weekend mornings on popular trailheads (Old Rag, Great Falls, Maryland Heights), assume the lot fills earlier than the headline drive time suggests — check the trail page for the parking-fill window.
